Hands-on Kalo Farming &
Cultural Sustainability Experience

Laupa‘i Ke Ola is seeking passionate college students who want to learn traditional and modern dryland kalo farming in Kona. This internship offers a hands-on experience where you’ll cultivate Hawaiian kalo varieties, gain cultural knowledge, and contribute to community sustainability.

You will learn to:

  • Identify and grow different kalo varieties

  • Harvest and process kalo for food production

  • Participate in traditional poi making and ku‘i ‘ai events

  • Manage small-scale farm operations using sustainable practices

  • Develop community education materials and social media content

  • Network with cultural practitioners, educators, and community leaders

🗓 Duration: Summer 2025 Positions
📍 Location: Kona, Hawai‘i
🚗 Requirements: Must have a valid HI driver’s license & transportation
🎓 Eligibility: Open to current college students registered on IMUA Xchange (IX)
